Erik Klaussen - Former Tour Leader

erik_rideWhere are you now?: Las Vegas
Whatcha doing? Working at the Bellagio, trying to become a firefighter…

Are you still riding? When I can, not as much as I’d like.
If you’re not riding – If I’m not riding, I would rather be.

Rides: the snot rocket—old Ellsworth Dare
Tires: the biggest cheapest ones I can find

I love… technical singletrack and downhills that make your eyes water and brakes overheat
I hate… walking my bike
I want… more money and time to ride
I need… to become a firefighter

Favorite Escape Tour: Idaho Hotsprings or Bryce/Zion
Favorite Trail: Amasa Back to Rockstacker to Jacksons. Or The Portal.

The other guides always said I was: a weird eater
Favorite Grub Box Item: Trail mix (minus the M&Ms)

Always carry… anything that you don’t want to break (anything part for which you have a spare is guaranteed not to break) HEADLAMP!!
What I miss most about being an Escape Tour guide: the camaraderie and being fit

Best Escape Memory: I honestly couldn’t pick only one. Maybe riding with my dad.
Words of Wisdom: Smooth is fast. And don’t forget to tip your guides…that’s how they buy beer
