If you are looking for adventure and culture, the Enchanted Circle road bike tour from Escape Adventures is just what you need. From Santa Fe, to the Rio Grande, to the ancient church of Chimayo, this tour is prefect for a summer or fall retreat.
From the origin of ancient civilizations to the birthplace of atomic energy, New Mexico’s unique influence spans millennia. Its colorful history and landscape have inspired so many elite artists and writers, including Georgia O’Keefe and D.H. Lawrence.
You too, will be fascinated by New Mexico’s compelling blend of history and scenic beauty as you cruise through the Sangre de Cristo Mountains on our high desert and alpine road bike tour. Our days are spent cycling the flanks of Wheeler Peak, the state’s highest point found in the southernmost stretches of the Rocky Mountains. As we head north from Santa Fe, the terrain is relatively flat and descends to cross the Rio Grande. The terrain is rolling along the way from Ghost Ranch to Tres Piedras. The Enchanted Circle is at minimum 6000 feet in elevation with several high climbs to over 9000 feet. Downtime is spiced by visits and warm interactions within the small communities between rides, melting pots of Old European ethnicities and Far West tribes. Superb New Mexican cuisine highlights every stop.
Originally this tour was tailored to the seasoned cyclist due to the elevation and climbs. But now we offer this tour with the use of our new ebike from Specialized which makes the climbs easier and faster giving you more time to enjoy local hospitality.
If you seek something really different, this tour offers as much deep regional history as flavor, if not a totally off the map destination. This is a perfect road bike tour for those who have tried everything else and are looking for something new. For more information, click HERE and request a detailed itinerary.
