At Escape Adventures, we love camping and we also love getting kids excited about the outdoors. Our blog today features some non-traditional dessert ideas that you can try on your next camping trip. These desserts are a break from the traditional “s’mores” that we all have gotten used to. We would encourage you to try at least one (or all) of these on your next outdoor adventure…
Cinnamon Rolls on a Stick
There’s no real trick to this technique aside from making sure you don’t try to toast these over a super-high flame. You want to cook them low ‘n slow, as pitmasters like to say, to make sure you get the whole cinnamon roll cooked through before completely torching the outside. Open up a pack of Pillsbury cinnamon rolls. Skewer them individually, roast for 15 to 20 minutes, then drizzle with the icing that comes in the package. It’s a total game-changer for any camping trip!
Choco-Banana Campfire Foil Wrap
Slit a whole banana halfway through (like a hotdog bun). Fill each banana with 2 tablespoons chocolate chips, 2 tablespoons mini marshmallows and 2 tablespoons cereal. Wrap each banana in foil, making sure that foil opening is on top. Using tongs, set wrapped bananas in coals of campfire; cook 8 to 10 minutes. Carefully remove from fire; peel back foil.
S’more Pops
So if you just HAVE to have S’mores, this is a neat and fun way to make it a little differently. Toast a marshmallow and then drizzle it with chocolate syrup. Once the marshmallow is covered in chocolate, roll it in a bowl crushed gram cracker crumbs. You can make several at a time and enjoy with everyone
Hopefully some of these new campfire dessert ideas will be something you try on your next family adventure.
